This weekend in Norwalk: a pirate cruise to Sheffield Island, Haitian kompa on Van Zant Street, and Rock This Town at Calf Pasture

Morning, Norwalk. The heat is doing what July heat does, so this weekend rewards anyone who plans around the water. There is a pirate ferry out to the lighthouse, a big Haitian music night in East Norwalk, and the Third Taxing District's Sunday concert back at Calf Pasture Beach. Kai and Harmonik Live in CT at Imperial Eagle Plaza, 25 Van Zant Street (East Norwalk). Two of the biggest names in Haitian kompa share a bill for a Sneaker Ball, and Harmonik alone would fill the room. If those names mean something to you, you already know where you are Friday night. The Seaport Association hands the 1868 lighthouse over to pirates for the weekend, and the ferry ride out is half the fun. Bring the kids in costume; the island does the rest. Guided House Tour at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, 295 West Avenue. A 45-minute walk through the 1868 Gilded Age mansion, running Thursday through Sunday all summer at 1 PM. Third Taxing District Summer Concert with the Rock This Town Orchestra at Calf Pasture Beach, 195 Calf Pasture Beach Road (East Norwalk). The TTD (Third Taxing District, East Norwalk's own utility district) runs free Sunday concerts down at the beach from 5 to 7 PM, and the Rock This Town Orchestra brings the big-band swing. Pack a chair, pick up something from the concession stand, and watch the sun drop over the water. Free, 5 PM, all ages. Details.

Summer Sundays Poetry Open Mic at the Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Avenue. Readers, a sign-up sheet, and the cool of the library on a July afternoon. Free, 2:30 PM, all ages. Details.
