Make Noise For Those Who Help

Sorry, but I only have a Spotify link this week.

Obviously, I Have To Start With

...saying thanks to sarth for standing in and writing a helluva newsletter last week in my absence. The playlist was great and he did things with the format of this newsletter that I may eventually steal and claim were my own the entire time. After all, this is the internet.

Lying In Bed, Just Like This Next Artist

I've spent an infuriating amount of time in bed this week, given the vaginoplasty and recovery. Now they have me dilating every four hours, which means even more time in bed. Between everything, I've found myself lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did. Oh, and speak of the devil, he's back with a piano instrumental version of God Only Knows, off his new album Brian Wilson Presents At My Piano, a collection of instrumental piano arrangements of songs that span the Beach Boys songwriter's career. It's very sweet.

Where The Lost Things Go

Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that in the time that I've been absent, my wife has asked for a divorce and I've gotten a massive invasive surgery. It's a fucking lot to process. That said, I'm sure that I've missed a lot of the great music that came out this week and I'd love it if you sent me the stuff I haven't yet found. Here's a collaborative Spotify playlist. Fill this shit up for me, but only one new song per artist unless you've got damn good reason to break that. Alright, I'm taking a shower before I finish this, cause I feel like death itself at the moment.

Well, the shower kinda helped, but I think it's the ibuprofen that's really doing the hard work right now.

I Don't Know How to Say This

I saw the new releases today and had a physical reaction of joy unlike anything I've felt in a week. Converge and Chelsea Wolfe's collaborative album Bloodmoon I is finally fucking out. This is the first part of a series of albums that will be coming from the pairing and it's one of the more exciting things I've heard this year. There's also this chick Adele who I guess just released her thirtieth album? Seems ambitious.

It's a newsletter, but it's not a newsletter, ya know?

Dan Campbell of The Wonder Years is one of my favorite people in pop-punk. I still remember seeing him at Warped Tour in 2015 wearing campaign merch for Bernie Sanders and loudly advocating for a better America. God, I wish they were all like that. This week he's released his debut solo album, a folk record that allows him to peel away from all the flash, flair, and implicit juvenility that seems to be demanded in pop-punk. I hope you like it. For some reason I feel mildly invested in it. Possibly just because I genuinely like this dude, despite not knowing him.

I won't bore you with the laundry list of credits to Jessica Moss' name, but I'll implore you to visit the violinist and composer's new record Phosphenes. I love ambient music, instrumental metal, and musicians with the ability to merge "classical" stylings with modern music. Phosphenes delivers tastes of all of that while being utterly its own thing.

And of course I have to mention Snoop Dogg's new album The Algorithm. It's a compilation with voices from across generations of rap music and it'll bring a smile to your face no matter how deep into the genre you are.

Okay, I'm Out

I just had to dilate and now I just want to take a nap, so I'll cut this short.
