Noëlle's New Noise

Welcome to Noëlle's New Noise.

My goals with this newsletter are many, but primarily I want to introduce people to new music that I find interesting, weird, or alienating. I hope you'll set aside any preconceived notions of what music can or should be and join me in this journey of discovering cultures, languages of expression, and experiments that will challenge you.

Of course, I'm also planning on pointing out notable releases from the big hitters. I've never been one to shy away from putting Skrillex, Weezer, or Kendrick Lamar on a playlist and I will not apologize for including basic shit. Basic bitches rule this world and I am one most days.

Since this is a hobby newsletter, the length and depth of it will vary from week to week. I can promise that each week will have a these two parts, though:

1. A playlist of the new tracks that I find most interesting. 2. A brief write-up on tracks that I find particularly noteworthy.

I will generally limit the playlist to one track from each artist spotlighted. In the cases of a track being from a full album that just came out, I will usually include a note so that if you're interested you can dig deeper and hear the track in its intended context.

Occasionally, I'll drop in merchandise that I find interesting so that you can support these artists financially. I am not making anything off of this newsletter and do not intend to, so I encourage you to buy at least one item from an artist every month in lieu of a subscription fee. I'd love to know what you bought.

Finally, I would like to eventually set up a discussion forum so that we can all talk about new music together. Until then, please feel free to reply to these or find me on Twitter so that I can hear your thoughts. Due to my desire to release this newsletter as early as possible on Fridays, I often miss tracks that should have made it onto the playlist and would love to have a community that can point out my oversights so that I can determine if they need to be added in an addendum.

The format of this whole thing will change rapidly as I learn what I want from it and as you tell me what feels helpful or just doesn't work. I'll try not to confuse you, though.

Thank you for joining me on this. I hope you're able to feel my excitement for new music.
