I just wanted to take a moment of your time to extend a personal invitation to attend our upcoming in-person Yankee Gathering.  As a previous attendee of one of our virtual conferences, you know what a great experience our Yankee Gatherings can be.  As good as they are, our virtual Gatherings do not hold a candle to the in-person ones.  The in-person Gatherings are an opportunity to learn more about our favorite topic – magic, as well as, to add to our collections, to see some great performers, and to interact with other people who share our common interest.  This year’s Gathering promises to be one of the best.

First, we are honoring a very special and deserving magic historian.  Our Guest of Honor this year is Jim Steinmeyer.  Jim, as you likely already know, is a noted author, historian, creator, consultant and so much more.  Jim will be presenting a talk “A Deceptive History of a Deceptive Art” on the opening night of the conference and, later in the program, he will be interviewed about his career in magic.

In addition to our usual activities such as the auction of magic collectibles, the dealers’ room, the flea market, the exhibit room, and the wine and cheese welcome, we have put a special emphasis on the two shows that will take place at the Gathering.  The shows will include top-level professionals such as Marc DeSouza, Richard Hatch, David Garrity, Matt Roberts, Alyx Hilshey, Alex Boyce and the extremely entertaining, Nick Diffatte.  Some might say that the shows alone would be worth the price of admission. But we are not stopping there.

We lined up a great program of talks.  The topics to be presented include a first-hand recollection of being a member of the Le Grand David troupe, a look into the little-known career of Herr Alexander, as well as talks on playing cards, Victorian trade cards, apparatus and much more.  There is, literally, something for everyone.
