New post published: Performance engineering, profilers, and seeing the invisible
I intended for this to go out a week or two earlier, but then I got nerdsniped by Advent of Code and C++ templates and published that post instead, and then got busy.
This post mashes up two very different ideas: A paper I recently discovered (courtesy of Alex Gaynor) about the nature of expertise, and some reflections on performance engineering and profilers.
Each topic could merit extended discussion on its own, but this specific connection or application has stuck in my head and I wanted to try to explore it. I hope it resonates with some of you -- let me know what you think.
