July happenings in NC live art
In this issue, I cover general July announcements, new meetups on the site, and Durham Plein Air pics.
July Announcements
- The Durham Plein Air events will be at Durham Farmers Market on July 19 and a special nocturne event at Hillsborough's Last Fridays on July 25. We shifted our Saturday by one week to accommodate Raleigh Outdoor Painting Group's shift (likely due to the holiday).
- The Raleigh Outdoor Painting Group events will be at the NC Museum of Art North Courtyard on July 12 and Jordan Lake State Recreation Area – Seaforth Access on July 26.
- This month's M.U.S. SketchUp hasn't been announced yet, so stay tuned to the Draw Y'all Meetup Group for their announcement.
- As usual, Urban Sketching at CAM Raleigh will be on the second Saturday, July 12.
- If you've ever struggled to get into the sold out figure drawing class or open figure sessions at Durham Arts Council, set a reminder in your calendar for July 25th at 10am. Fall registration opens then: catalog pdf, DAC website.
New meetups listed on NC Art Meets
We have two new meetups added to the site!
- Anne & Arthur, the art supply store in Hillsborough, is hosting a monthly general "drink 'n draw" on third Thursdays at Eno River Brewing.
- Similarly, the Scrap Exchange in Durham is hosting monthly drink and draws on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.
Durham Plein Air and Urban Sketching
Do you know a place you've always wanted to sketch or paint in Durham or Orange counties? Let me know so I can host an event there!
Here are a few pics from our June meetup at Coker Arboretum where we had a record turnout:
Sponsorship
I'm looking for a few sponsors to help make this newsletter and site more sustainable. If you know of a potential business sponsor, please let me know! Also, individuals can support in smaller ways - on Patreon, Ko-fi, or Github Sponsors.
Feedback
If you have suggestions for future things I should announce or post in the monthly, let me know! Also, please let me know if you learn about any additional meetups not yet on the site. Feedback for the newsletter and the website are always welcome.
