January happenings in NC live art

Happy New Year! January meetups, new and changed meetups, and more...

This Month's (Moving) Art Events

As always, several figure drawing and general art meetups are occurring every month in the same place - you can find links to those on ncartmeets.com. Here are the outdoor meetups:

  • Saturday, January 10 (am): M.U.S. SketchUp - Grandaddy’s Antique Mall, NC with the Mebane urban sketchers
  • Saturday, January 10 (pm): Urban Sketching at CAM Raleigh with Scott Renk's CAM Raleigh USK group
  • Saturday, January 24 (am): Nasher Museum at Duke with Durham Plein Air/USK

New/changed meetups

McKayla Walker (from DAC and DAG) is hosting a new, free open studio on select Sundays at Durham Arts Council. See her IG post or check the DAC website. If it becomes a regular thing, I'll add it to the website.

Content and fun stuff

  • How not to waste your life - Nathaniel Hawthorne's thoughts on living "in order not to look back with 'a lament for life’s wasted sunshine.'"
  • Shameless self-plug: I'm teaching a hand-carved rubber stamp making workshop in Hillsborough in February.

Sponsorship

I'm looking for a few monthly sponsors to help make this newsletter and site more sustainable. If you know of a potential business sponsor, please let me know! Also, individuals can support in smaller ways - on Patreon, Ko-fi, or Github Sponsors.

Feedback

If you have suggestions for future things I should announce or post in the monthly, let me know! Also, please let me know if you learn about any additional meetups not yet on the site. Feedback for the newsletter and the website are always welcome.
