Hey friends,
I burned my Hawaiian pizza this weekend.
I should have used aloha temperature.
How do we keep our own original opinions in a time where robots are more than happy to think for us?
Just like we began 'working out' our bodies when modern convenience made life physically easier, we're now in an age of mental convenience, and we'll have to do the same for our brains. Cal Newport prescribes reading, writing, and self-reflecting as a regimen:
"We should treat highly distracting digital garbage like junk food – something we largely avoid – and purposefully schedule a non-trivial amount of time each day to read, write, and self-reflect." – Cal Newport
The easiest of those is reading. Not reading like when we were in school (bleh), but things that interest you or capture your imagination! What if instead of scrolling through video feeds when we're feeling bored, we cracked open a book?
