Pre-Spring: another season of waiting

For those of you just joining us, this is a little letter I send out very occasionally to people who might vaguely be interesting in the arts, or the life of the mind, or the goings on in the midst of this (my?) life. I've just finished teaching what was (for me, anyway) a really fun class at SPU called Thinking out Loud, based on a new book by Alan Jacobs, and--today actually--have just begun a new one for Spring term on Research Writing in the Humanities with readings entirely from Image. Also, the boy (my son Sebastian) learned to walk a couple of weeks ago. So pretty much, joy abounds. Meanwhile, here are some things I wanted to share.

- In this YouTube video, I read some of my poems from Phases. I know some of you can't make it to the big readings, so here's a taste from afar. I've jumped the video to my portion, but this was a group reading of tremendously fine poets, so it's worth clicking around the timeline after you're through.
- I have three new poems coming out in the new St. Katherine's Review. You can subscribe now and have the volume mailed to you (there's a digital option also). They may post one (some?) of the poems online thereafter. But you can read the first one here! Oh Spring, oh life!
- A few years ago, I made some poems about bicycling that were published in a journal called Boneshaker. They're putting together a book featuring the best ones from the decade or so and are including those poems. The volume will be out in Autumn and I'll be going down to Portland for a launch reading. Stay tuned.
- They've posted the schedule for the reading in New York; if you're in New England, I'll be reading at 3:00pm on Friday, April 27th. Though actually, I'll be reading at that time, Lord willing, regardless of where you live.

- Another friend, Hopkins, just made this pretty website about his new counseling business. WA Eastsiders take note.
- There's new poetry books by Li-young Lee, Matthew Dickman, and Galway Kinnell, so, you know, get reading.
- The poet Jennifer Maier has a new website too, which is simple and dark and I think very pretty.
