Let’s Do Design Research Right!
TL;DR: Come hang out with Erika this Thursday. Learn about doing good research, taking down your enemies, and why AI is bullshit. Yes, yes, you want these things!
These are some wild times! Most organizations are doing at least some research these days. And yet so many decisions are still based on personal opinion, groupthink, and reactive tactics while insights from studies pile up (and good people get let go) because knowing things about the real world feels…optional?
It doesn't matter how much data you have, if you're asking—or being asked—the wrong questions and rushing ideas into production instead of participating in functional collaboration to gain real understanding.
You can help your team make better-informed decisions faster, if you start from the right basic principles.
You’ll learn how to:
Approach design research in challenging and chaotic times
Identify what you really need to know
Formulate and prioritize your questions
Understand how to use quantitative and qualitative data together
Choose research methods and activities
Improve collaboration across disciplines
Convince decision-makers of the value of learning
This workshop will give you a strong conceptual foundation that will improve your approach to any specific technique. We'll explore how to select the most effective methods to get the insights you need and avoid wasting time with research theater (or bad surveys).
This is an interactive, participatory session with a limited group size.
The event happens in Zoom.
We will make fun of AI a little bit.
