RE: New YouTube Channel
Hi everyone,
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I've started a YouTube channel focusing on trustworthy machine learning research. I hope you'll consider subscribing, or sharing this channel with someone interested in machine learning. Come be part of the next wave of machine learning!
The first video explains differential privacy, the gold standard for preserving privacy in machine learning.
There's a lot of hype around machine learning, with a lot of attention (bad pun!) placed on the latest state-of-the-art models. However impressive GPT-3 and recently DALL-E have been, deploying machine learning in the real world has consequences.
I want to use this channel to highlight how to make models fair, robust, explainable, preserve privacy and highlight other risks and concerns. I've been researching trustworthy machine learning as part of my Master's at Cambridge, and I want to share what I've learnt so more people can get into this field, which is only going to grow as machine learning matures.
What does this mean for the blog? Whilst my YouTube channel is exclusively trustworthy ML, I'll still be posting about other areas of computer science and software engineering on my blog.
2021 is shaping up to be especially exciting and I want to thank you for your support. Thank you Troy for encouraging me to send this email!
Finally, Adam sent in a meme that summarised many Hacktoberfest contributions last year. Thanks for sharing it, Adam! Please do continue sharing your memes :)
Till next time,
Mukul
