This Week’s Track:
The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Take Five
Time Out - 1959
Take Five is obviously a very famous jazz standard, and I had heard a couple of people covering it on Instagram recently. It was in my head when I was making this week’s episode, so it was my first choice as the background tune.
If you have any recommendations for a background track, please let me know!

Story 1: War is over (again)
The war in Iran is over! This is only the 19th time we’ve been told this. I’m sure this time it’s legit.

I’m just glad we finally found a permanent solution to all of the conflicts in the middle east, and we will never have to invade ever again, and everyone will forever get along and sing kumbaya, hand in hand. Gas, however, is still expensive, so despite the perpetual peace Mr. Trump has masterfully brokered at only a cost of $400 billion, I’m still angry.
Story 2: Obama Library and Controversy
The Obama presidential library opened in Chicago this week, although that was not the only thing pertaining to the Obamas in the news cycle this week.
https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/live-updates/obama-presidential-center-opening-2026/
For the record, I don’t think libraries are actually boring. I’m just doing my best to relate to my peers who wouldn’t touch a book with a ten foot pole. But I love libraries. It’s one of the only places where you can shush someone mid sentence and not inherently seem like a jerk. Did Obama’s have to be so expensive, and look like a military prison? I don’t know, and I don’t really care. He’s not the president anymore. I kinda care more about the spending of the current president. Like wasting millions on the reflecting pool. It’s a distraction, and it’s dumb. Still no word on those Epstein files, by the way. Don’t let them make you forget.
Story 3: Gerrymander Fail During Ongoing Primaries
Some seats that were gerrymandered recently are favoriting the clearly disadvantaged democratic candidates to win, by slim margins.
https://abcnews4.com/news/local/jim-clyburn-headed-to-general-election
And below is the link to the post I put in the background of the actual segment that contains the McLaughlin poll information. In the interest of transparency, it’s not actually based on the candidates, but a general party poll. But because McLaughlin often exaggerates GOP gains, I still think it merits the label I gave it of a potential dummymander, if Dems are somehow actually still ahead in a seat that should easily be red, lol. “You played yourself.”

I’m excited at the prospect of the midterms showing trends towards genuine progressivism that was previously only seen by a cranky, old, jewish guy from Vermont. Maybe with a myriad of faces, policy ideas, and methods of communication, more people will understand what their goals are, and why they think the way they do. I hope the people in NY and elsewhere will pull through during the primaries and in November.

Outfit
I graduated earlier this month, so I wore my graduation gown! Underneath I wore my “protect the dolls” shirt. I love this shirt because whenever people inquire about it and ask, “who are the dolls?” or, “what does your shirt mean mean?” I get to talk to someone face to face, and actually explain why I think it’s so important to advocate for trans kids and trans rights. Even when people have prejudiced views before a real conversation, sometimes the overall orally magnanimous individuals change their views and escape from the annoyingly strong bonds of ignorance. Protect the mf dolls!!
Errors
I didn’t notice that my glasses were keyed out for the majority of the episode. I also didn’t notice that a small part of my green screen to the bottom left of my knee is visible throughout the episode. I’m going to try and get back into the swing of things over the summer, but I’m still getting used to it! I’ll try to avoid stuff like that in the future, lol. I bet nobody but me even noticed, though.
I also kinda forgot that the G7 meeting is happening right now and I didn’t even mention it once during my video. Whoops!
If you find any errors from this episode or a previous one, let me know! I’ll add it to next week’s newsletter.
⭑ Hate Comment Of The Week ⭑
From @4nik0rnz, via TikTok
"Michelle didn't destroy school lunches she wanted better nutrition in schools and the schools fucked that up by getting the cheapest nastiest shit"
First off, I don’t think this qualifies as a hate comment at all, but it was the only marginally negative things someone said this week…yippee! Now, here’s my response: That may be true, my friend, but I have a real problem when someone tells me that I suck at criticizing both sides of the political spectrum. And that’s challenging in the present day, because day-to-day, Biden’s biggest scandal was falling over on his bike, while Trump’s is rampant insider trading, calling reporters fat and stupid, and falling asleep during sports games and oval office meetings. That makes the criticism pretty one sided, so I have to take whatever I can get when it comes to the Democrats (who I generally loathe as well, for the record). My point is, I remember my school lunch sucking when I was younger. Who’s fault is that? Probably my schools, like you said. But they would’ve continued feeding me yummy dyes and sugary treats if it weren’t for Michelle Obama, so for that reason, its her fault for everything wrong with the world today. Thank you for your time.
Behind The Scenes
Thank you all for reading! I know I have a few new subscribers, and I am very grateful to all of you for your support. I have so much fun making these videos (less fun making the newsletter as of late, but that is squarely a laziness issue that I’m actively working on). I found that the previous two recaps I made were sort of hastily cobbled together, I didn’t do too many extra takes, just really authentic compared to when I was super in the swing of things around September to February. I’m going to try and keep up that authenticity, with a bit more consistency with it. Knowing me, it’s anyone’s guess if I hold myself to that.
Im coming up on close to a year since I made my first video in late July of 2025, and I’ve had one of the hardest periods of my life while I made this little show. It has kept me busy and kept me passionate, even when I took long breaks from making them. It has been very rewarding and I’m eternally grateful for you, dear reader, and for everyone’s support. I’ll do my best to actually see you next week, instead of next month :)
That’s all for now. See you next time,
