Issue 3: (With working links) Navigation, Style Guide, and Design Tokens
Issue 3
It’s Getting Hot!
We recently learned that the links in our emails could not be opened within the Broadcom network; these links should work. Sorry for the hassle!
It’s Summer and it’s getting hot… just like Mineral.
Maybe you like to check out the consolidation of critical design elements into the new Mineral documentation, or maybe you prefer to hear about how we’ve broken new ground by introducing something completely new. Either way, we’ve got something for you in this month’s newsletter.
Hey, designers! Do you work with a developer that should know these things?
Please forward them this email and ask them to subscribe.

Feeling Lost? A Little Navigation Can Help
AppBar, Side Navigation, and Top Navigation are some of the most routinely applied patterns throughout our apps, and now they’re available in the Figma documentation. There you’ll find redlines, usage guidelines, and more.
Note that some frames are marked with an orange “In Progress” label. While you shouldn’t rely on those patterns just yet, we welcome your input.
Top Navigation isn’t built out yet, but you can find AppBar and Side Navigation (part of AppShell) within our Layout suite of React components in our Storybook.
Mineral’s Got Style
What’s a design system without a style guide for how we write text? Mineral has always been good at the visual part of UI design, but we’ve never really delved into the style of our text… until now.
We’re excited to introduce the beginning of a style guide to help in the writing of text for our UI. Check it out now, and watch it grow in the future.
Like all Mineral resources, you can find it on the website.
Tokens Are Here!… For Design, Not For PacMan
Our apps, as well as Mineral itself, are full of design decisions, big and small. Most of Mineral’s smaller decisions—things like colors, font properties, border radius, shadows, sizes, and spacing—are now available as design tokens, published in JavaScript and Scss (Sass) formats.
Tokens make it easy to style your app in a manner consistent with Mineral, using whatever technology you have available. Find details, including how to install and use them in your app, on our new Storybook. Questions? Ask the team.

Accessibility Guidelines
We’re proud of the way all of our applications are designed from the ground up to be accessible. We’re going to start a guide to help us understand what that means.
