A Few Things to Tell You Vol. 32

another adventure weekend and two summery reads

Well hello there, happy Saturday!

WHAT A WEEK! I got to have a VERY memorable and laughter-filled camping & exploring overnight with the oldest (the board held air but we did NOT sleep) last Sun-Mon, have been offering guidance (and co-signing!) as our son buy his very first brand-new car, graduated the youngest from 8th grade, got to go on a field trip in which I was able to “work” by paddleboarding around a lagoon for hours, and wrapped up the 25-26 school year yesterday with a whirlwind of a fun day! WHEW.

Devil’s Lake State Park last Sunday evening

And now this weekend I’m heading off on another adventure, this time meeting up with Suzanne for an overnight in a new-to-me Wisconsin destination. 24 hours JUST US! We haven’t done this since our wacky Milwaukee adventure two years ago ~ can’t. wait.

Due to all of this excitement, I’m just popping in here quickly with some recent summery reads and the life-altering news that after loving my Branwyn merino underwear so much, I tried one of their bras and am in heaven. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Perfect for all of my sweaty life experiences except running. Use my referral code for $10 off your first order. Note that I also tried the bralette and it didn’t work for me, but my daughter LOVES it.

Okay, now some books!

Recent Summery Reads

There are a lot of reasons to appreciate Burnout Summer by Jenna Ramirez (dreamy Rhode Island beach town setting, sweet friends-to-lovers romance, etc), but the thing that made this new release really stand out to me was the achingly raw storyline surrounding student debt and the tug between living to work or working to live. If you’ve ever wondered how you can ever dig your way out AND appreciate a slow burn gentle love story, this is for you.

And then there’s The Shampoo Effect by Jenny Jackson, which utterly captivated me with the exquisite and sharp writing, coastal Massachusetts setting, book-within-a-book, and extremely juicy friend group storyline. I read and enjoyed Jackson’s previous novel Pineapple Street, but this one has earned a solid place on my favorite reads of the year lis. This doesn’t release until June 30, but get your library hold in ASAP because this is definitely one of the IT books of the season!

And that’s it! I’m off to catch up with Suzanne and will be back on Tuesday with a fun treat for you … see you then!

Thanks for stopping by!
