There’s a new book by British historian Kathleen Burk, Wine: A Global History, that will be out in the States on October 13th and in Britain on October 1st. That was supposed to be the end of this mailing. However, awakening this morning to the story in the NYT that he who shall not be named had issued another Executive Order on Friday about what history means, I felt compelled to attach an Atlantic piece that ran on July 22, which provides the background to the Executive Order. I do so, secure in my belief that this in not a story about politics, but, like the podcast, it is a philosophical exploration of the concept of what is history.
