# What’s wrong with linear growth in archives?
Are you an archivist who has ever felt hopelessly overwhelmed by backlogs? Do you say to yourself, “Is this our Sisyphean burden forever?” Have you ever thought maybe archives have… too much stuff? I will explore these themes in the keynote for the [Society of Southwest Archivists](https://societyofsouthwestarchivists.wildapricot.org/annual-meeting-2024) virtual conference happening on Wednesday May 1 (MAY DAY!). This is going to be a great conference focused on sustainability in archives, and you can get a ticket for only $85 (or less, if you’re a member or student!)

# California Rare Book School seminar on Archives and Climate Change
I’m delighted to be returning to [California Rare Book School](https://www.calrbs.org/program/courses/archives-and-climate-change/) to teach the Archives and Climate Change seminar once again. It will take place online from August 5-9.
This week-long course will take place online between 10 AM and 3:30 PM Eastern. Participants will be expected to participate in an online class environment for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon each day of the course. The course will involve a mix of asynchronous readings, live lectures, class discussions, and workshops using web-based climate change data visualization and mapping tools. Although the course focus is on archives, all information and cultural heritage workers are welcome.
