This is earlier than I send emails for concerts, but I'm sending one early for good reason- because it's liable to sell out. I'm playing in the pit for the Woodland Park Players' Production of
Anything Goes this year!
Shows are on March 23 (7:30pm), 24 (7:30pm), 25 (2pm), 29 (7:30pm) & 30 (7:30pm), and you can get tickets
here.
Some of you came and saw their Guys and Dolls last year, and had a great time- I have reason to think that this one will be even better. This one is kind of a big deal for me personally because I'm the only person on the violin part, and I even have a few juicy solos.
This musical was written by Cole Porter, which means that the music comprises fantastic big-band hits (such as the song in the title, It's
De-Lovely, and
You're the Top). It takes place on a boat, on which there is a love triangle (or some other, more complicated shape), and mild villainy.
Those of you who come to this will enjoy the following:
- Tap dancing
- Songs with i
ntentionally silly lyrics
- Sailors
- A parody church revival
- Beer, wine, and homemade baked goods sold before the show and at intermission
There are also the unfortunate parts of musicals of this vintage, which include casual racism and a plot driven by a man stalking a woman he has never actually met in order to get her to fall in love with him.
Again, shows are on March 23 (7:30pm), 24 (7:30pm), 25 (2pm), 29 (7:30pm) & 30 (7:30pm), and you can buy tickets
here - it's assigned seating, and liable to sell out, so I do recommend buying them in advance. This performance will be at the
Shoreline Community College Theater - it's near the end of the #5 bus line.
I'll send another email about a week before this opens, too. Thanks for listening!
