Hello everyone! I hope you're having a lovely Spring. I'm in London visiting family and friends at the moment - but I'll be returning home tomorrow. It's been a good break, but the most I've done musically is binge-listen to
Meet the Composer, so I'm looking forward to my next performance.
My next gig is part of a chamber music grab bag that's done as a fundraiser for the orchestra I play in. It'll feature small groups of musicians - a string quartet, a viola choir, a piano quintet - and me playing with my friend Marjorie, who is an amazing contralto. We'll be performing two contemporary settings of very old folk songs. One is about love, and the other is about a guy with a pet mouse.
Since I'm an instrumentalist, I don't normally get to play songs, and it's a fun and interesting thing to have words that tell me how the music ought to go.
Admission to the cabaret is by suggested donation - and any food or drink that you purchase there will go towards funding LUCO as well. If you like, you can
reserve a ticket for yourself.
This is on Saturday, April 29th at 7:30 (doors at 7), in the downstairs part of
Town Hall.
As always, thanks for listening!
Melinda
