Detritus Salon: June 9th, 6pm
Hi friends!
The last email I sent you was a little sad. I had some music to play and a lecture to give and I couldn't do them. I have decided to make lemonade out of these lemons, and host a salon at my house. I've called it a Detritus Salon because it will have me performing things that didn't fit anywhere else- performance detritus, I guess?
For those of you who don't know what a salon is, it's traditionally a gathering in someone's house where people perform music or poetry or readings, or show art. Wikipedia says it is "a gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host." I'll leave the description of the host up to the attendees.
This is an experiment! If it's as fun and cool as I think it will be, I'll do another one.
The program, as it stands today, is as follows, but not necessarily in this order:
- A presentation about how tai chi relates to violin technique, and a couple pieces for solo violin (me)
- A singing trio
- An art slideshow curated from found slides ( John )
- Neural network generated British place names (Eldan - and from watching him make these, I must say that my personal favorite so far is "Piccup Farchway")
It'll be at my house on June 9th, 6pm. Please reply to this letter if you'd like to come, because I don't know if I have enough chairs! Or reply if you have something you'd like to do in front of a friendly audience next Saturday. We will have drinks and snacks. And thanks for listening!
