Love the coaching questions you ask clients, Mark! Add this angle to spark existential reevaluation, “How might powering through threaten the future existence or reputation of our organization (or team)?” Recently, I had to drive a final push to increase participation in a program to satisfy a quota mandated by a VP, resulting in less than well qualified participants with shaky commitment plus damage to our partner relationships. And top that with a dash of our staff burnout and regret. Instead of compounding benefit, we compounded damage to the team, program, institution, and relationships.
