Week 1 (week of 2/23) β first practice this Friday!
Hi all,
Welcome to the Spring 2026 Mad Dogs season! We're excited to get started and can't wait to see everyone on the field.
π Practice
Our first practice is this Friday, 2/27, from 3:55β5:30 at the Madison field.
Because of competing Wednesday activities (ski bus, the school musical) and no field conflicts yet, we'll be holding practices on Mondays and Fridays for the first few weeks this season rather than Wednesday. Here's the schedule for the first three weeks:
As always, please dress for the weather, bring water, and wear cleats. Leave personal discs at home β we'll supply practice equipment.
π Team Calendar
The practices above have also been added to our team calendar. Feel free to subscribe as it will be kept updated for both practices and games.Β Β
π― Active Roster and Game Assignments
We won't be doing formal tryouts β all players who have signed up are welcome at practice. However, we only have coaching capacity for one team, and with ~15 Bx and ~15 Gx players signed up, only a subset will be activated for Saturday games each week.
Here's how it works:
Securing a game spot will be a function of effort, demonstrated abilities, modeling of Team Values and Expectations, and practice attendance. This means some players may be activated for all or most games, and some may not be for a given week. Play time at any given game may also not be equal. Inclusivity and "spirit of the game" will always be core to the program, but we want to create incentive for players to give their best and grow.
A few notes:
π Active players for each Saturday will be announced in the Sunday evening weekly email.
π₯οΈ Players can also check their active status in the upcoming βPlayer Portalβ.
π· A larger squad will be activated for the Spring Reign Tournament (April 25β26 in Burlington) to give more players game time and allow adequate rest across the weekend. Spring Reign activation will be determined in early April so families can plan accordingly.
β Volunteering
Thanks to those who listed as being willing to volunteer on and off the field.Β Weβll followup soon with those who did, and itβs not too late if you still want to help. We especially would welcome extra adult hands during practices (checking attendance, setting up cones, being encouraging and constructive voices, etc.). Again, coaching experience is not necessary.Β
π£οΈ Additional communication you can expect this week
More details to come later this week, including how to register/pay with DiscNW and other team communication logistics.Β
Feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
Good times!
