Cookery School Classes

We have just added some August & September classes and want to remind everyone that all our courses are open to children aged 13+ if accompanied by an adult, so if you’re looking for something to do with the little-ish ones this summer holidays then why not book onto our Bread: Back to Basics course on Tuesday 5th August and take home some bread + bread making skills!

We have also added another 2 homemade pasta course dates as well as more Viennoiserie and Sourdough dates too - see the list below and click the links to book!

🍞 Bread: Back to Basics 🍞 - NEW!

Tuesday 5th August & Tuesday 9th September 2025 9:30am–4pm
You'll learn to bake consistently good, wholesome bread at home using just flour, water, salt, and yeast — no gimmicks, just real bread. The course focuses on slow fermentation techniques to develop flavour, texture, and nutrition, and covers everything from choosing ingredients to using the right equipment. With expert guidance, a vegetarian lunch, and plenty of bread to take home, you’ll leave confident and ready to bring the joy of real bread into your own kitchen. Includes a bakery tour and access to Loaf’s breadmaking shop.

🌾 Wholegrain Baking with Tom Baker 🌾

Saturday 6th September 2025 9am–4pm
As well as all the practical hand-skills needed to handle doughs with a higher proportion of wholemeal in, Tom Baker (one of the founders of Loaf) will help you to gain an understanding of the biology of grains (wheat, rye and spelt) and the value of using and eating whole grains in terms of both nutrition, economics and politics.

🥐 Sweet Breads & Viennoiserie 🥐 - NEW!

Saturday 20th September 2025 9:30am - 4pm
A hands-on course exploring sweet breads and viennoiserie. You’ll learn to laminate dough and bake treats like cinnamon buns, cardamom knots, hot cross buns, croissants, pain au chocolat, danishes, and more. With a focus on slow fermentation and great ingredients, you’ll gain the skills to recreate these impressive bakes at home. Includes a bakery tour, lunch, refreshments, and all equipment. Not suitable for vegans or coeliacs due to high butter content—please contact us for allergen info.

🥖 Simply Sourdough 🥖 - NEW!

Saturday 27th September 2025 9:30am–4pm
Spend a day learning the art of sourdough where you’ll cover everything from caring for your starter to kneading, shaping, proving, and baking both wheat and rye sourdough loaves. You’ll take home your own dough to bake the next day, plus starters and full recipes to continue baking confidently at home. The day includes a sourdough pizza lunch, refreshments, a tour of Loaf’s community bakery, and access to our breadmaking shop. Aprons provided. Not suitable for coeliacs—please contact us for allergen information.

🥘 Thaali 🥘

Wednesday 23rd July 2025 6:30–9:30pm
Join Chef Haseen and learn the secrets of another Indian speciality - Thaali - popular in India, Nepal, Fiji, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Singapore. A hands-on workshop where you can feast on all the dishes you make family-style, so arrive hungry!

🍝 Pasta 🍝 - NEW!

Tuesday 19th August & Wednesday 10th September 2025 6:30–9:30pm
You’ll explore hand-rolling, cutting, and using a pasta machine, with recipes including classic carbonara with Loaf-made guanciale, heritage einkorn pappardelle, and delicious filled pastas with sauces. Enjoy fresh bread on arrival and a shared meal at the end. All equipment, recipes, refreshments, and aprons are provided—just bring a container for any leftovers. Suitable for vegetarians (please notify when booking); not suitable for vegans or coeliacs.

Tuesday 16 September 2025 6:30–9:30pm
You’ll learn to make dumpling dough and fillings from scratch, including vegetarian, pork, Sichuan lamb wontons, and crispy fried dim sum-style wontons.

Wednesday 17 September 2025 6:30–9:30pm
A workshop with Lap-fai Lee that dives deep into the art of broth, noodles, toppings, and seasoning. Expect rich flavours, smart technique, and the know‑how to recreate at home.

🔪 Knife Skills & Maintenance 🔪

Tuesday 23 September 2025 6:30–9:30pm
Learn how to prep with precision. Lap will guide you through essential knife grips, cutting techniques, sharpening, honing, and care—skills that elevate every kitchen routine.

Wednesday 24 September 2025 6:30–9:30pm
Explore Thai cuisine through authentic spice blends, curries and sauces. Hosted by Lap-fai Lee.
