Join our bakers Rach and Neil to discover all about Heritage grains in baking. Throughout the day-long course they will examine with you several flours made from ancient grains and use them to make loaves and crispbreads. You’ll explore the history of these grains, the nutritional values and, most importantly, how they taste.
During the day you will be using Spelt as well as Einkorn, Emmer, and Kamut flours. These will be used on their own and also blended with the organic wheat flour we use in the bakery. The next class takes place on 26 October from 9.30am-4pm.
Stirchley Art Room is organising free art sessions for adults in Stirchley Library since 2019. They currently run three daytime sessions and one evening session per week. Each session is run by a qualified art teacher with support from a specialist workshop assistant. They are for people of all abilities, from professionals to beginners, and adults of all ages and backgrounds who come along for all sorts of reasons - friendship, personal development, well-being and mental health, and artistic development.
Despite their best efforts to secure repeat funding the Thursday evening session is currently unfunded and they need help to run this art club which is especially important for those who can’t make the daytime sessions due to work, childcare, and other reasons.
Please support their fundraiser if you can.
Since it got a bit chillier, we thought we can dare to get the local chocolate back into our shop shelves.
Marshall & Co‘s chocolate is made in Bournville, but not by a multinational corporation. Unlike most chocolate producers, they work with the actual cocoa bean and take care to preserve all the flavour. All their chocolate is vegan and gluten-free.
The sweets shifts have the following planned:
Coffee, Date & Walnut Bundt
Sticky Ginger Tray-bake
Crumble Jack
Cornflake Brownie
and Blondies!
The Saturday sourdough specials are:
