Learn how to make Thai food
Join Loaf and expert tutor Lap-fai Lee for this exploration of Thai flavours and classic Thai home cooking.
Thailand has many world famous dishes, and rightly so – Thai food beautifully combines an often complex array of ingredients and flavours, with an emphasis on fresh, aromatic, and spicy. It’s so much more than a jar of supermarket Thai green curry sauce.
Like all Loaf courses, this Thai course is very hands-on, and throughout the evening we’ll be tasting the fruits of our labour. We’ll be making Nam Pla Ra (fermented fish relish with fresh vegetables), Pla Tort (deep fried grouper with Nam Jim sauce), Massaman beef curry and Yum Makeua Yao (smoky aubergine salad with egg).
The next course takes place on Wednesday 2nd April evening from 6.30pm-9.30pm at Loaf.
Learn how to use and care for knives properly
Or maybe you want to start with the basics of choosing the right knife for the right task, and keeping your knives in peak condition? Then join Lap-fai Lee the evening before the Thai course for our Knife skills course.
Lap-fai will guide you through some fantastic recipes that will enable you to learn all the essential knife skills – from deboning a chicken leg for Karaage Japanese fried Chicken, chopping an onion in double-quick time, cutting lots of vegetables to make an amazing salsa, slaw and stir-fry.
The hands-on workshop lasts three hours (including eating time) and will end with a knife sharpening demonstration using a whetstone and a chance to sharpen your own knives and ask all knife related questions!
You’ll feel right at home at Loaf, and everything you learn will set you up for recreating at home with confidence!
The course takes place on Tuesday 1st April from 6.30pm-9.30pm at Loaf.
Hot Cross Buns
Last week we gave you a heads up already - now we start officially: Hot Cross Buns are back! This week we will start slowly and keep increasing the amounts over the next few weeks. HXBs will be on sale this year at Loaf: 24th March to 26th April 2025! So if you can’t get enough of them, you can still keep enjoying them the week after Eastern.
As always: You can either play it save and pre-order online four (or eight, or twelve …) or come to the shop and try your luck and buy them as single or whatever amount you like. We charge £2 each or £7 for four HXBs.
Loaf is hiring!
We are looking for 2 new members! We hope to find someone to work mainly in the shop and someone who would be able to take over the main responsibility for our office.
