We’ve got a new book - Modern Sourdough

We believe everyone has the right to be able to find, cook, and eat real food every day. Whether it’s learning how to make a white tin or sourdough bread. In one of our courses, taught by our baker Rach, you can learn how to make sourdough bread. We love to send you home with enough motivation and the skills to confidently make sourdough in your own home. If you can’t join our courses, but still want to learn how to make sourdough bread, we can recommend the book ā€˜modern sourdough’ by self-taught baker Michelle Eshkeri. It’s filled with information like how to make your own starter, how to bake bread and many sweet and savoury recipes. You can find the book in our shop shelve next to ā€˜Knead to Know … more’, which we recommend if you are thinking of setting up your own microbakery (published by the Real Bread Campaign).

Next week is pancake day - why not learn how to make dosa?

On Tuesday 4th March we will have our tutor Haseen Muthalali back at Loaf to teach during a three hour workshop the secrets of dosa – the right consistency of fermented ground rice for the dosa mixture, the secret flavours of the Kerala sambar, Potato masala filling, a wonderful tomato and tamarind chutney plus a fresh coconut, mint and coriander chutney and of course the cooking techniques for the perfect dosa. The course takes place on from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, is suitable for VegansĀ and the ingredients areĀ gluten free. And the best: You will eat all you made for dinner.

  • Soup: Roast sweet potato and red lentil soup w/ garlic and herb focaccia (Ve)

Friday

  • Curry: Thai yellow curry with cauliflower, potato, green beans and peppers w/ sourdough (Ve)

  • Salt beef on Challah bun

Wed - Fri

  • Sourdough Pizza: Artichoke, sun dried tomato, basil & mozzarella (V)

  • Ham and cheese croissant

  • Vegetarian croissant (V)

Wed – Sat:

  • Sausage rolls

  • Vegetable rolls (V)

Lunches are made fresh weekdays for 12 noon.

  • Wholegrain Baking with Tom Baker: Sold out at the moment. More dates will be released very soon.

We run classes throughout the year (except August and December) and schedule new dates as soon as possible. You can sign up to alert lists for specific classes here.

If you think of gifting one class but you are not sure which one would be preferred you could buy a gift voucher instead.

Our vouchers can be purchased in any value you like for redemption against future bookings. Vouchers purchased online will give you a downloadable pdf which can be emailed to the recipient directly, or to you for printing and giving to them by hand. Alternatively you can come to us and buy vouchers in the shop.
