This is the weekly newsletter from Loaf in Stirchley, keeping you abreast of our bakery and cookery school, and other news we think you might be interested in.

This week Hot Cross Buns are back! Because it’s Easter soon! And that’s when we have Hot Cross Buns!

We’ve also added a few more classes for March and April run by tutor Lap-fai Lee and Loaf’s own bakers.

We’ll have plenty on the shelves all week, with lunches served from noon on weekdays.

Hot cross buns are back this week

Whether you celebrate Easter, worship Ēostre or just like seasonal tea cakes, you’ll be delighted to learn that Loaf’s legendary hot cross buns are back this week. Hand made in our bakery with our secret ingredient (Earl Grey tea) we’re dead proud of these and hope you enjoy them as spring slowly emerges.

They’re on sale Wednesday to Saturday, priced at £2 each or six for £10 (buy five get one free). You can pre-order on the website or pick them in store.

More classes for March and April

Since we last talked we’ve scheduled some more classes with Lap for the spring.

  • Knife Skills: Thu 9 Mar
  • Thai Cooking: Wed 29 Mar
  • Ramen: Thu 30 Mar
  • Sushi: Wed 5 Apr
  • Seafood Masterclass: Sat 22 Apr

We’ve also found space in the rota for the Loaf bakers to run some more of their classes, with Martha’s Bread — Back to Basics on Tue 18 Apr and Neil’s Sweet Breads and Viennoiserie on Sat 15 Apr.

Spring Stirchley market

The next Stirchley Community Market will be on Saturday 18 March at Stirchley Baths from 10am to 3pm. We had a marvellous and worthwhile time there in December and look forward to attending again. Pop it in your diary!

  • Curry: Tarka daal with sourdough (Ve)

Wednesday

  • Soup: Winter veg and butterbean soup with sourdough (Ve)

Thursday

  • Soup: Roasted garlic, cauliflower and potato soup with roasted hazelnuts and sea salt focaccia (Ve)

Friday

  • Curry: New potato, kale and pea curry with sourdough (Ve)
  • Salt beef on challah

Tue — Fri

  • Sourdough pizza: Puttanesca with rocket & olive oil (Ve)

Wed — Fri

  • Ham and cheese croissant
  • Pine nut pesto and cheese croissant (V)

Tue — Sat:

  • Sausage rolls
  • Vegetable rolls (V)

Lunches are made fresh weekdays for 12 noon.
