This is the weekly newsletter from Loaf in Stirchley, keeping you abreast of our bakery and cookery school, and other news we think you might be interested in.
This week we’ve formalised selling loose and bulk flour, and it’s the return of the Breadcrumbs!
Scroll down for this week’s lunch menu, cookery school spaces and community news.
🍞 Pre-order your bread and pastries 🥐
We’ll have plenty on the shelves all week, with lunches served from noon on weekdays.
Our bakery opening hours are:
Tue - Fri: 12 - 6
Saturday: 8 - 1
We’ve always been happy to sell flour from our bakery stores but haven’t really formalised it, until now!
If you’re after white, wholemeal or rye flour, and bring your own container, we’ll fill it up and charge by the kilo. We can also order in 16kg sacks from our supplier, Matthews Cotswold Flour, and do special orders for anything on their website.
Because this comes through our wholesale account we can pass on our discount, so if you’re using a lot of flour this should be a lot cheaper for you.
Check out the Baking Supplies page on our website or the signage in the shop.
🥖 We’ve had a nice big delivery from Jacky’s Jams and the honey is finally all back in stock (the beekeepers were a bit busy with their bees!). Check them out in the shop.
🥖 Our local MP Steve McCabe visited recently to talk about our energy bills which have shot up to a nearly unsustainable level now we’re no longer eligible for government support. He wrote it up on his Facebook.
🥖 Barefoot, the training programme for co-operative and community business advisors, is recruiting for the next cohort. We sent Pete to this last year and it was very useful so if you’re working in this sector consider giving this a go.
🥖 Cocomad is coming up, but even if you can’t make that weekend there’s loads going on in your community-managed local park.
🥖 Stirchley Community Market is this Saturday at the baths. 10-3, so perfectly timed to pop in after getting your bread.
If you’ve got news or an event in Loaf’s wheelhouse (some variation on bread / community / cooperatives), let us know at newsletter@loaf.coop
Lunches are made fresh weekdays for 12 noon.
Our menu for the week — with ingredients and allergens — is on the website.
