Hello everyone,

Fliss here with the weekly update from Loaf, including lunch menus and pop-up timings for another week in limbo πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ

We are back at Deadbeat again with Anosh Speciality Coffee this week as the wait continues for GSA to finalise the completion of the building. We will be stocked up with fresh bread, rolls, sweet and savoury bakes, cakes and our homemade lunches. It’s looking to be another hot week ahead so just a reminder that Deadbeat has air-con and is the perfect cool-spot to enjoy an iced coffee and a cinnamon bun!

A huge thank you to everyone who's been using our pre-order system. It's been a massive help while we're popping up, so if you know what you'd like, please do keep pre-ordering where you can.

If you're planning to grab lunch from us, just drop us an email the day before at [email protected] and we'll happily put one aside for you. We've got another fresh, summery menu coming your way this week.

➑️ Cut-off time for all pre-orders is 11am on the day before pick up!

Thanks so much to STEAMHOUSE for their continued support in letting us use a corner of their bakery in Redditch - we honestly do not know what we would have done without their generosity. πŸ’› πŸ’› πŸ’›

Update on SCD

The demonstration last Thursday was a formidable display of community support and we’re so grateful to everyone for showing up for everyone involved in Stirchley Development Co-operative.

Go and check out the new update video from SCD here: https://www.stirchley.coop/

A team from SCD met with MP Al Carns last week for a site visit but GSA did not grant them access to the building so it happened on the street outside. Carns continues to back SCD and has written to GSA's Chief Executive demanding that the housing association honour their original commitment to let local residents and co-op members own and manage the space.

Bread = a must for any demonstration

There is a site visit taking place this Wednesday with SCD members, GSA representatives, the press and Richard Parker (Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority). Hopefully this will give us some much needed answers on timeline and lease. We will report back in next week’s newsletter!

I’ll be writing a proper update from us for next week’s newsletter but we’re doing our best to keep moral up given the circumstances. Please do come out and support us at our pop-ups this week as it really does make all the difference to our longevity through this minefield!!

A strong turn out for last Thursday’s demonstration

πŸ“―πŸ“― Woodland Games πŸ“―πŸ“―

Johnny and Dale from Hipkiss and Graney who are also members of Artefact reworked the idea of the Woodland Games. They will be working with the people from the Fruit Nut Village and Birmingham Brewing Company. Everyone can sign up as a team to then spending a few weeks building their giant ecological inspired costume and join the games.

The big game this year is called The Great Rea Run and is a hectic spree of Fruit & Nut Village orchards within Stirchley along the beautiful River Rea, which is made accessible because of the work of the Friends of Rea Valley Stirchley.

Another way to take part in the day is to nominate your Stirchley Tree of the Year! Send them a photo of your favourite tree and if you’d like a short description of why you like it and they will award the tree at this years games with a special ceremony! Personally I’ve got a couple of trees I really like in that area, so I might need to think about that a bit longer before sending my choice over.

If you are a runner: Get your teams together and sign up by emailing at [email protected] to join the fun.

Thanks for all the continued support & see you soon!
