september notes
Hi friends,
We're in the midst of the yamin noraim, the days of awe, the week before Yom Kippur. If you are tapering caffeine as I am, sending extra strength. And there’s also a crispness in the air. If you've been thinking about knitting or crocheting something new, this might be your moment.
patterns for this (and every) season
In general, my designs are built for two realities you can hold at once. First, I hope you find them easy to wear; they don't need a perfect fit and offer multiple styling options. Second, they don't ask you to hit gauge exactly, though you may find you need different amounts of yarn if you skip a swatch. I reach for my samples when I'm spending time in spaces with uncontrollable AC or simply want an accessory that helps me feel special.
You can browse all my patterns at my site. Ayrton, an understated lace poncho, is a favourite. Since it's been out for a decade now, I'm working on extended sizing for it. If you're interested in testing the new sizes as they're ready, please get in touch and we can discuss your skills and what I'm looking for.
If you're looking for something quick to make before Yom Kippur, Start with Chai and A Touch of Lace Kippah are both good ideas. They can also make meaningful gifts.
what's new in the shop
I’ve added some more notions, if there’s a size you would like to see, please let me know.

tools for trust (01 September)
I love books. Those others have written and those I write in for my own use. Books and paper were a part of my childhood; early on I discovered the magic—and power—found in a blank notebook. Read more →
rebuilding: learning by doing (18 August)
As the final days of August wane, I’ve run into several students who sheepishly tell me that they haven’t picked up needles or hook since the start of summer. Life is messy; priorities shift; the heat just swallows the day. As Arthur Ashe said, “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.” You don’t need to ask my forgiveness for taking a break. Read more →
why I write by hand (04 August)
Writing by hand works better for my brain than typing ever will. It's not about perfect notebook spreads; it's about finding a system that's consistent and actually works for you—not copying what works for someone else. Read more →
a few housekeeping things
The Thursday group continues to meet weekly. I've kept the size intentionally small so there's space for real conversation and attention. If you'd like to join us, please sign up through Calendly. If you’re already on the Thursday group mailing list, each week’s email will have the direct Calendly link—one less click.
If you're looking for knitting or crochet help and would like focused time together, in-person or virtual times are available and you can sign up through Calendly.
There’s something about this time of year. Whether you’re making something, joining us Thursday, or just sitting with the shift, I hope you find what you need.
