Then this

Giuseppe pointed to this book on Test Driven Data Analysis in a recent newsletter. Quotes like this from there speak to me "Just as many developers like the idea of well-tested code but do not write tests or feel doing so to be a burden, most data people admit to doing less data validation than they feel they should. Unsurprisingly, this does not prevent them from complaining endlessly about the terrible quality of the data they have to work with."

I do some volunteering with teenagers and they are very interested in the proposed Social Media Ban. My view is that it's completely understandable to react to the many alligators in the village pond by wanting to keep the kids away. But I can't help feeling it would be better if we stopped people putting alligators in the pond in the first place. The Open Rights Group is, I think it's fair to say, very much against this and other threats to the open Internet.

The Pudding wants to know how good you are at mowing the lawn.

And finally this

This is a list I compile on a weeklyish basis and email to subscribers. I also share the link on Mastodon, Bluesky and LinkedIn. It's a list of data vacancies in nonprofit organisations that have caught my eye. I don't endorse any of the organisations or roles.

Salaries are usually FTE and usually include London weighting if applicable. This list is very UK focused and even for remote jobs you are likely to need the right to work in the UK.
