Updates and Changes

One update at LFFC: after some (more) damage to the charging station, we swapped the plastic box out for a (substantially more rugged) metal one with an integrated lock (the kind you often see housing miscellaneous electronics on walls and poles). If it works well at LFFC, we’ll also build one for our friends at Seattle Community Fridge for their Estelita’s Library location.

A new phone for Connections: on May 2, we finished the installation of a new phone at Cafe Red, a coffee shop just a couple of blocks from LFFC. They’ve hosted a free pantry for years, and its location on a wide plaza with tons of foot traffic (but sheltered from the noise of the main road) makes it a great place to put a Futel phone and some WiFi–and the usage has been excellent even in its first month, with the Cafe Red phone hosting nearly twice the number of calls as the other three Connections phones combined. Thanks so much to Cafe Red for agreeing to host a phone, along with all the other things they do for the neighborhood!

Monthly Usage

This month, we had 49 outgoing completed calls made from our Futel phone, as well as 68, 43, and 305 calls made from our Connections phones at the Dunlap Seattle Community Fridge (SCF) site, Estelita’s Library SCF site, and Cafe Red site, respectively.

Our COGGA for this month is $900.21, not including naloxone, condoms, or lubricants (all of which are provided by outside groups at no cost to us).
