"Basic" games and performances

This is going to be a smaller monthly email I think. But in the spirit of using email as one alternative to commercial platforms, here we go...

If you have performances or events, reply to this email and invite me! If you have projects you're excited about, send them to me to check out. I also like good recipes and music suggestions, and feel free to add me to your newsletter subscribers.

Performance Sunday at the Living Gallery

Right off the bat: I'm performing tomorrow Sunday March 23, doors at 7pm, performances at 7:30pm at the Living Gallery, 1094 Broadway in Brooklyn. I'll be playing a modular synth set, with live A/V visuals by Paloma Kop, along with other musicians I'm excited to hear live.

Daily quilt poems, The Oregon Trail, and flower clocks

Hi, another Lee Tusman email about my current projects. It's nice to have a place I can share my things that isn't on some corporate platform or making money for a billionaire. Here's what I'm up to. Feel free to respond to this email and let me know about your projects or link to music you're listening to, good books, protests, etc.

Request for help: If any academic friends have ever published a textbook or similar through turning their curriculum / class notes into a book, I'd love a chance to chat with you about the process. I take extensive class notes for each of my classes and basically build up a textbook with my own notes and (mostly) creative commons sources. It might be nice to package these as books. I'm also going to work in the fall to turn my podcast interviews into a book as well.

Year-end projects + fave books of 2024

Hi! In this email I detail some of my recent projects, and then reviews of all the books I read this year. About a year or so ago I switched from Mailchimp (crappy interface, hard to use) to buttondown.com (easy to use, just paste in your text. No templates) for these emails and I think I am paying $45 a year to send them. Stop reading when you get bored/annoyed.

I am writing this at a coffeeshop. A man came in an hour ago with The Diaries of Franz Kafka, then looked at his phone for an hour, then left. So it goes.

I am blogging a lot lately. Send me your blogs! I like reading them before bed. In general, less platforms, less instagram, less facebook, less new thing, more blogging and newsletters from friends.

New and Old Projects (copy)

New and old projects

Hi, just a short check-in email on what I'm up to, as requested by Rob Dubbin and someone else (Max?) when I was at No Quarter games showcase on Saturday. I will send one more email in December, which will be my end of year review of every book I've read this year. Get ready.

At school since getting tenure they're trying to get me on a bunch of committees! I'm working on helping to kickstart a new animation major, in addition to supporting my New Media and Math/Computer Science departments.

I rebuilt my website this summer, thank god. It had been 5 years. Now it's modular and easy to add new pages.

Performances and Events this month

Hi everyone,
I didn't send an email for a year and now a second one in a month. I'll keep it short. Here's what I'm up to, mostly in NYC this month.

Late Summer Lee Tusman

Just some updates

Hi friends, I forget to send emails with what I’m up to in my life. I send these out between once a year up to 4 times a year. You are always welcomed to write me back with your own news, or a “hello”, or a great recipe or music you are listening to.

My current projects are always on my now page on my website. I also post occasionally to instagram and special.fish.

Recent projects: Gas.gallery, some workshops and talks

Hi folks, here's what I've been working on lately.

Gas gallery archive

Gas gallery truck drawing

For the past many months I've been working on building a digital archive for Gas gallery, a mobile, autonomous, experimental and networked platform for contemporary art located in a truck, parked at various sites around Los Angeles. Gas was founded and directed by Ceci Moss, and Ceci was an ideal partner to work with. Over the past two years I've been working on building out systems of support for artist-run spaces to engage in archiving projects, so this was a perfect collaboration.

Lee's Art, Games, Music, Concert Life updates

Hi friends, I wanted to send an email newsletter out monthly or semi-monthly, but it’s been a year I think!

Now

I’ve been trying to rest a few months, recovering from a serious concussion in February and another medical issue that I’ll have surgery to correct sometime this summer. But overall feeling good about summer weather, friends, family, romance and creating art with friends.

I try to maintain an always-up-to-date text page with my current projects here: now.

Hello world

Hi!

Welcome to my email newsletter! It's been many years since I've sent one of these. I intend to send these approximately every other month, and no more than monthly. You are invited to read, unsubscribe, forward, or write back to me directly to tell me what you are up to.

You're receiving this because you've signed up for my email newsletter, or we've climbed a mountain together, or we met on a bus and struck up a conversation, or you slept on my couch during the era of couchsurfing (RIP), or we met at a warehouse party somewhere in Philly, or you subscribed me to your email list, or we've been the last people to stack the chairs back up at the end of the night after the big event we organized, or due to a bit flip error.

To reintroduce myself: I am an artist, educator, musician, programmer, organizer. I live in Ditmas Park in Flatbush, Brooklyn and am in my third year as an Assistant Professor of New Media and Computer Science at Purchase College.
