Hit and Miss #446: March marches on
Hello!
Been another whirlwind week, including some fun adventures with T along with time visiting a good friend earlier this weekend. My brain is already thoroughly borked. From next week on, things should quiet down.
- What’s the time cost of approval steps? 10x whatever the previous step took. (Rule of thumb, but convincingly argued.) Neat frame through which to think about that most interesting of topics, organizational design!
- Craig Mod is using LLMs to make software hyper-specific to his situation, and having a blast doing it. This idea of personalized software delights me to no end, even as I grapple with some of the harder questions about LLM use.
- Kale Vogt has moved into a new apartment, and is dreaming of the furniture they’ll build to fill it. The record shelf reference photo is sweet.
- Speaking of moving, a touching reflection on saying goodbye to a house well lived-in: “If you were to ask me if I had a baby other than my three kids, I would tell you that I most certainly did and it was the house Mark and I bought 34 years ago.”
In days of ever escalating conflict and stresses on all fronts, I’m glad spring is technically here—just hoping the weather gets the message soon. In the meantime, all the best for the week ahead!
Lucas
