The Light Set has a show on Wednesday, June 29th (and you are cordially invited)

Well! It's been six long months since I wrote you all, and guess what?

The Light Set has a show in New Orleans on Wednesday June 29th, at Hotel Peter & Paul. Our first show since March 2020! I am. Mildly excited.

Friends, there will be SUCH singing in this deconsecrated-church-turned-hotel-slash-venue. We are all thrilled to be getting back to it.

If you can't attend, please consider supporting the band! It's very important to me that my bandmates be financially compensated for their hard work and dedication!!!

Here's some ways to support: Buy the TLS EP; Buy the Otiis EP; tbh you could venmo me (@thelaureno) the suggested donation ($15) with the caption "TLS!" or "BAND!" or "I AIN'T GONNA NEVER STOP LOVING YOU....THE LIGHT SET" (love you too, bud) and I'll add it to our ticket intake total on the 29th.

I wrote some flowery prose to market this show, and the hotel has declined to use it (rude lol), so I'm pasting it below for your enjoyment.

I'll be back in your inboxes very soon with some solo project updates and newsletter housekeeping.

Join The Light Set for their first show since March 2020!

The evening will begin with Otiis’s long awaited release show for 2020’s EP “Halfway To Daylight.” The Light Set will then perform a twist on their pre-pandemic solstice shows, celebrating summer in all its heat, passion, and life. The celebration includes a bittersweet send-off to beloved guitarist Dave DeCotiis, who will be much missed as he journeys to new adventures in New York.

The Light Set, a six-piece chamber folk band, weaves a magical tapestry of vocal harmony, classically-tinged instrumentals, and deeply felt lyrics. Their 2018 EP, “Diving” has been praised as “crashing waves of harmonies... that build into life-giving hymns.”

Otiis, the solo project of Dave DeCotiis, released “Halfway to Daylight” in November 2020, during the height of the pandemic. A beautifully joyful, irreverent group of songs, “Halfway to Daylight” is an insistent reminder of the healing power of love and community.
