Hello friends!
Happy September, &c.
As I draft this, I am simultaneously prepping a four-course meal on the theme of bacon and eggs. It's my dad's birthday, and we're throwing a little dinner party. When pressed to name what he'd most like to eat, all Michael would tell me was "bacon and eggs." "I want bacon and eggs."
So. Here's what he's getting:
Deviled Eggs with Bacon
Warm Arugula Salad with Bacon and Poached Eggs
Spaghetti Carbonara
Hot Fudge Sundae with
Caramelized Bacon
Big props to
twitter for helping me plan this extravaganza. I actually shopped
five courses, but after testing the Bacon and Cheddar Soufflés I realized I was out of my mind. Also, man am I serving a lot of bacon. Here's hoping no one keels over at the table.

On the career front, OH GOD DO I HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY TIME
Yes. That was the whole point, wasn't it? Fuck.
On the career front....
I did another rewrite of Love the Blue. That's what 😎🚫💊 is called in what-do-you-call-it, non-emoji. That's how we're spelling it out. Love the Blue.
So, I did another rewrite.
I sent it to some people.
Now we wait.
Or do we send it to more people while waiting to hear back from the some people? Is it finished? IS IT ANY GOOD?
Some days I think yes and yes. Some days (like today) I have no idea.

This month on Netflix: I've managed to lure Ricky back to television!! My secret weapon is
Halt and Catch Fire, a computer nerd drama set in 1983. Solid writing, great acting, great 80's score, and two really strong female characters, who,
according to Emily Nussbaum, get even stronger in Season 2.
This month on the big screen: As we've been marooned in the wilds of British Columbia, we haven't made it to a theater. But.
Diary of a Teenage Girl is #1 on my movies-to-see list.
This month in tacos: BC does not have good tacos. It does have
good bacon. And very good smoked salmon. Should you find yourself at the Buckley Bay ferry landing, be sure to pick up some tandoori salmon from the little fish store down below the
Best Gas Station Ever.

p.s. I still haven't made it into a river or a hot spring or a waterfall. Or made pickles. But as far as I'm concerned, summer's not over 'til the end of October.
