The Radio Tacoma Newsletter
News from Tacoma’s all-volunteer, low-power community radio station, 101.9

Welcome to the newsletter for Radio Tacoma KTAH-LP (low power) 101.9 FM. While you can hear us on the radio, of course, you can find all of our locally produced programs on our archive at radiotacoma.org. Our studio is located at UrbanWork Spaces at 950 Broadway M100, Suite 27.
We here at Radio Tacoma love unions and trains!
WOB Radio is one of our locally produced shows, hosted by Marilyn Kimmerling and other members of our local IWW. The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), whose members are nicknamed " Wobblies”, is an international labor union founded in Chicago, United States in 1905; it was one of the first unions to include women and people of color. The show airs on Wednesdays at 3:00pm and 10:30pm and can also be heard on our archive under WOB Radio. In honor of Labor Day, Radio Tacoma thanks our unions and the work they do to protect us as workers. Listen to episode 14 of The View from Tacoma to find out why Labor Day is celebrated in September rather than in May, which is when the rest of the world celebrates it.
Marilyn Kimmerling has brought us a new show called Solutionary Rail, which airs on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00am. The show "reflects a decade of research, writing, and advocacy” aimed at illuminating the ways that the U. S. rail system can be harnessed to better service public interests and to address 21st century problems.
Stay tuned for more information in our next newsletter about our upcoming Winetasting and Silent Auction Fun-raiser on our birthday Sunday October 19th (10/19 = 101.9) from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in the gorgeous UrbanWork atrium at 950 Broadway, where we have our studio. You can watch the interview we had with Reid Fetters and Becca Lamberg of UrbanWork. We now air their podcasts Tacoma Rising on Sundays at 7:00pm and UrbanWork on Wednesdays at 7:00pm.
