A tree fell down
and all my neighbors were there to hear it.
Hello again, sorry to bother you…
I didn’t plan to send you an update this soon after my last one, but it’s been an unprecedented couple weeks on my block. I was putting little hearts on the photos I took of what happened last night, getting ready to make a post about it on IG, but I’m a new person now, gotta cut that out.
So I started writing this, and realized I want to draw it. “It” being multiple things that have never yet happened on my block in the time I’ve been living here, until this week. One sec, BRB…
Ok, I’m back. Here’s how it went, in backwards chronological order.
Yesterday:

Our power was out from the time the tree downed the lines until sometime in the early morning before I was awake. It took out one of my neighbor’s fences. The neighbor who’s decaying RV and car was crushed by the falling tree hasn’t been by to see the damage yet, but no one has his phone number on our block, so I guess it’ll just be a surprise! (???)
The DWP guys worked all night, it looked like when all those science people show up when they find ET. There was a lot of yelling, but it wasn’t angry. At one point we heard some worker shout to another, “I love you bro!” By morning there were two new, metal poles up, and the power was back on.
Tuesday

(see caption) I only knew why the helicopters were circling because my neighbors were talking about it in our group chat right before parents got the heads up that the school was going into lockdown.
Monday

The week before…
Someone turned the power off using my neighbor’s circut breaker, and then tried to break in WHILE THEY WERE HOME. Lights started shining down in our backyard, and there were lots of cop cars on the street.

TGIF, friends.

Your Friend,
E
