I am sick. Here are some notes app musings.

You can't go back but you can leave breadcrumbs to help you remember.

pointless art. must art have a point? must the sky? what’s the point?

what’s the point? i don’t know you have to make one up. meaning is arbitrary which is great because whatever you decide is important to prioritise becomes so in your universe.

a point? you think creation must have purpose? beauty cannot be separated from function?

tell me the function of lipstick! to create more beauty? wrong wrong wrong.

we have found ourselves in a paradox. how can the point of beauty be to create more beauty? to what end? what’s the point? there is none.

a pointless scene a pointless character a pointless subplot.

A photograph of bare branched trees. Yellow winter sunlight illuminates the upper branches, while the trunks are dark. The sky is pale blue. On the right, stairs lead up the side of a stone wall. Flower pots sit by the railing.

did you enjoy it, though? was it whimsical? did it offer decent company, for a moment? have you looked at something different for a while?

what’s the point. face a god and ask them what the point is. fish, what is the point? bird, what is the point of you? you speak of the  ecosystem but what is the point of any ecosystem? life? what is the point of life?

every answer you provide prompts another question, we spiral and spiral and never find our feet landing solidly on AN answer.

the point of art. the point.

some of us are still there

i’m not the only one

recent comments on videos that are 14 years old

“who’s still listening?”

i used to hate those comments. now i understand the compulsion to ask

A photograph of the misty Kerry countryside. The clouds are low and grey over the rolling hills, stone walls are crumbling, and houses are dotted across the patchwork fields.

everything in the past has changed, we suffer if we hold onto past events as though they are the present

the past lives on in me as suffering

where do i put it all down?

we suffer when we want reality to be different from the way it is

the present is not the past

everything has changed
