the garden gate, vol. 2 🌿

a note from the gardener
I’m writing from the last week of school — it’s only Monday, and I already feel like throwing in the towel. I’ve messed up the schedule, started fights, sent texts I regret. This is where it gets real.
It’d be easy to hit pause on the practices that ground me — to say the invitations are for when life slows down. That I’ll come back to them later.
But no — this is when I need them most. So here’s my flag in the ground: I will accept the invitations now. I will slow, delight, carve out space in my soul. I’ll savor time with God and my family.
It’s a fight — but one worth showing up for.

a low bar for wonder
What if desire grows not from force or guilt, but from joy? This note explores how small moments of delight — a silly joke, a garden in bloom — can reshape what we want and how we live.
It’s not about faking it ‘til you make it. It’s about practicing joy and letting God meet us there.

today’s invitation
As summer begins, here’s my gentle invitation: read a book!
And just to be clear — this is truly an invitation, not a judgment. You’re no better for picking up a book, and no worse for watching a show you love. But if you are in the mood to read, I’ve put together a few lists to help:
- Looking to escape into something light and fun? Try my easy breezy booklist.
- Want something a little deeper — maybe even life-changing? Check out books that have changed my life.
- Prefer a personal rec? Just ask! Matching people with books they’ll love is one of my favorite things.
That's all for today. I’d love to hear what resonates with you — or what you’re noticing in your own corner of the world. You can reply directly to this email-I read everything! 👋🏻
