Big Talk July Newsletter: 3 Inspiring Stories + Read an Excerpt of the Big Talk Book

Hi friends,
This weekend I met an elderly man on the beach - long beard and a gnarled staff in his hand (he looked like a character out of a movie!) He told me the two most important things in life are to “get along with each other” and “save the gardens.” How simple and profound, I thought!
I've been thinking about how our common enemies aren't each other, despite what headlines sometimes make it feel like. The forces we should really be fighting are the ones beyond our control that cause people to suffer, such as disasters, disease, and loneliness.
One thing Big Talk has taught me is that when those things happen, people from different backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives show up for each other and come together to help. It reminds me that our shared humanity is often much stronger than the things that divide us.
Big Talk Questions to Restore Faith in Humanity:
Describe a time you were struggling. Who or what helped you get through it?
How have you recently shown kindness to others?
Describe a time a stranger showed you kindness.
What’s something hopeful you have seen happen recently?
When have you felt most connected to humanity?
WATCH VIDEOS OF 3 WOMEN WHO WILL CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE:

Meeting women like Kelly, Allie, and Anita changes me. They remind me that some of the strongest people you'll ever meet are carrying burdens you can't even imagine, and we should all tread through this planet with compassion.
I hope their stories remind you, too, of the resilience, kindness, and beauty that still exist in this world.
