i'm thankful it's friday already again. i'm thankful for short weeks, which are paradoxes and yet ones we get to experience sometimes (if not often enough). i'm thankful for the strangeness of knowing when a day goes by quickly and i am happy about that that it's also a day closer to my own death and a day of time that i let (encouraged to) slip away. i'm thankful for the different ways that we experience time as we age (i'm thankful for kenneth koch's
line about being young: "
I felt time surround me like a blanket endless and soft / I could go to sleep endlessly and wake up and still be in it." i'm thankful for the way that meditation, which i have been trying to stick with on a daily basis and mostly succeeding with, can temporarily change your perception of time, can make a short amount of time feel very long. i'm thankful for the timer app on my iphone, which helps me remember to do things and know when to stop doing other things. i'm thankful that i am working a different schedule today and so don't have much time to write these, but i'm thankful to have written something and in that way added another link to this chain. i'm thankful to do something rather than nothing.
