July at Twin Peaks Café

Hello, Friend.

This is so exciting! My first ever letter to you, fresh from my notebook.

I have Mr. Nolan to thank - once again - for giving me the inspiration I needed to sit back down to my keyboard and just… write.

Lists. Observations. Delusions. Song lyrics I love, and why. Words I find interesting and intend to use more. Things that made me smile, to teach myself the art of noticing and loving the little things.

Small tomatoes growing in pots on sunny balcony.
Proof that happiness sometimes looks like tomatoes growing on a balcony.

Lately I've been feeling this wonderful sense of fullness. Like my thoughts keep spilling over into notebooks, margins, and scraps of paper. And now, into this little letter.

I hope you'll enjoy it.

This month I've been...

🌻 enjoying...
Bad Bunny in Warsaw and the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Budapest. Go Cadillac! Go Valtteri! (Look out for August's letter - I can't wait to tell you what it's like rooting for Formula 1's ultimate rookie team.)

📚 reading...
The Gate of the Feral Gods (DCC #4; Matt Dinniman)

Shift (Silo #2; Hugh Howey) - that’s my audiobook!

Love on the Brain (Ali Hazelwood)

🎬 watching...
The Odyssey by my beloved Christopher Nolan. Seeing it on the big screen made me want to write again.

Silo on Apple TV. I do love a good sci-fi, and this one really hits the spot.

✍ writing...
The Odyssey review. It’s coming soon and it will be my official comeback ❤️

A list of films that feel like a warm cup of tea. I'll share it soon - I promise. So far, there are only three on it.

☕ one thing that made me smile...
I saw two storks in their nest. This is my favorite good luck sign.

New on the blog 🎬

Well... nothing new just yet.

It took me a little while to fall in love with writing again. But I'm here now.

Stay tuned?

32 wishes for 32nd birthday

It’s something bigger. Greater. Bolder. Mine. And for the first time I feel like I am in the right place, and the timing is impeccable.

July’s recommendation ⭐

Here are three things I think you might enjoy as much as I did.

📖 Book
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin - it's a love letter to books, bookstores, and the people who can't leave either without carrying home one more story.

🎬 Film
The Odyssey - Christopher Nolan's take on Homer's epic. Beneath the spectacle, I found a story about consequences more than adventure - and I can't stop thinking about it.

🎵 Song
Ojitos Lindos by Bad Bunny - I heard it live a few days back and… It was one of the most wonderful moments in my life.

One little whimsy ✨

Lately, my commute home has become one of my favorite parts of the day. It's only twelve minutes by train, but somehow that's enough time to read a few pages or fill another notebook with thoughts.

On Friday, it looked like this…

A page of handwritten notes in my notebook, filled with thoughts, ideas, and observations from my train ride home.
My messy, hot notes!

Thank you for spending a little time with me in the Café this month.
