Disability News Roundup April 27th
I'm getting started with my newsletter (I might change the name of it at some point). If you've received this you had previously asked to be on my mailing list. Not sure if I will do weekly emails or what but this one is a round up various items from the last week or so:
Disability Rights Watch is a weekly round up of news and information about the state of disability rights. Week 14 Update - there are several items included on that site.
Various Autism organizations have spoken out against RFK, Jr's comments about autism. In a rare move Autism Speaks and Autistic Self Advocacy Network are in agreement: Leading Autism Organizations Release Joint Statement on Upholding Scientific Integrity and Supporting the Autism Community
The ARC of Massachusetts also released a statement: Statement from CEO Maura Sullivan on National Autism Discussion, Community Concerns
From Mother Jones: Democrats Launch Inquiry Into Dismantling of Administration for Community Living: RFK Jr moved to shutter the agency, which serves disabled and aging adults, in March.
Another article from Mother Jones: Disability Protection Groups in Two States Pause Services After Missing Federal Funds - the programs are in New Jersey and Arkansas but could be a sign of things to come here in Massachusetts.
From Let's Address This with Qasim Rashid Trump Is Enacting Structural Eugenics: "It is important we understand this term, what it means for our personal safety, and why we must stand united to stop this fascism"
I'll continue to watch for items to include in my emails. Please feel free to share this with anyone who might be interested. I'l also be looking for things that are going on at a local level here in Massachusetts.
