An Action Item: Tell Congress to Defend Community Integration
I'm away this weekend so I'm sending this today with an action from the Advocacy and Action Center at the National Council on Independent Living:
Tell Congress to Defend Community Integration
"A bipartisan resolution has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives affirming the right of people with disabilities to live in their homes and communities, not in segregated institutions. H. Res. 1586 reaffirms that the Supreme Court's decision in Olmstead v. Lois Curtis reflects Congress's longstanding intent that people with disabilities should receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate. "
Several other disability organizations have sent the same action item so if you've already filled out a form or sent an email or letter to your U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators regarding H.Res. 1586 you do not need to fill out this form.
