PPIA Junior Summer Institute Info Session
Sept. 23, 6 p.m. via Zoom. PPIA Junior Summer Institute gives college juniors a fully funded summer to build policy skills, prepare for graduate school and meet people who take their ideas and their future in public service seriously. Successful applicants are hosted at Harvard, Princeton and the University of Michigan for an intensive seven-week summer program (stipend, travel expenses, housing and meals provided). Canadian Consulate General Internship 
The Consulate General of Canada in Detroit is seeking two interns (one full-time and one part-time) for the Spring 2027 semester (February to May 2027). Conduct research and analysis on U.S. companies, political developments and professional service providers while creating social media content to support Canada-U.S. relations. Assist with logistics and communications for major events, trade shows and high-profile visits. Gain international work experience and can be used for your Field Experience requirement. Political Field Organizer Opportunities 
The Northern Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters is hiring political field organizers to conduct voter outreach on targeted races throughout the state of Michigan. The position pays $30/hour, with flexible hours and schedules based on organizers' availability. Canvassing will take place four times per week from now through the November election. Internships Spotlight: Jack Reynolds

Internship with State Senator Sarah Anthony in Lansing, MI
Major: Politics, Rights & Culture and Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy
Expected Graduation Year: 2028

What were some of your regular responsibilities during your internship? Responding to constituent emails regarding legislation and policies, attending meetings alongside Deputy Chief of Staff with advocacy groups and researching existing legislations and potential legislative policies.

What kind of public affairs issues or problems did your internship focus on? Ensuring that constituents can voice their concerns or support to the State Senator. Additionally, I complete tasks that are contributing to the Senator's goals and missions. 

Which JMC skills showed up most clearly in your internship? Critical analysis, research, and comprehensive writing skills (especially when it comes to writing summaries for legislation). 

How did the experience shape how you're thinking about your future career path? I've always enjoyed policies and how they affect communities, but after this internship and being in meetings with organizations and non-profits that are being directly influenced by the policies, I want my future career to be more in that environment.
