The previous newsletter was Convening time! and last Sunday's Community Call was the first IS Web Quarterly Convening.

We came together as a "web" at the Convening last Sunday — and now, can we turn it inside-out? Can we figure out how to take the essence of that connection with us in-and-through intentional dispersal? For the nature of a web is distributed strands, spread out, not one dense cluster but a hundred agents of wisdom and compassion. Each at work in their communities and domains, doing what they are each called to do - what is the strength of these taut but thin strands binding together our visions?

Fragile, is a spider's web. Underground, is a mycelial web. Invisible, is the universal web of all life. How small we are, both individually and together as an IS Web or Liminal Web or ... whatever follows. We surf the air currents and imagine ourselves causing the winds of change. Especially after a milestone, my perspective widens to an overview effect of precious beauty plus grief.

Like webs of silk, we may be broken by forces much larger than we can control. You may or may not have faith in the meaning and purpose of this universe - regardless, we have no special provision for our particular selves as loci of consciousness, nor that our species will direct its own future as we might collectively wish.

Our resilience will be found not in laser-like coherence or in concrete crystal-like fusion, but in a continuous reconnection to reality through acceptance and responsive re-alignment toward the good, true, and beautiful. Our borders will be ragged and messy, our boundaries porous though valuable, our organization organic. Can we remain soft enough, open enough, to ride the wind through the storms?

The winds are picking up speed.

Yet our connections are inside us, and the wind cannot destroy them.
