Bitcoin crash odds fall as Fed cuts stay off the table

Wednesday, August 26, 2026 · Edition 1

Two markets on today's board can't both be right. Crypto is walking back its crash fears just as the rate market digs in on a full year of restrictive policy. Bitcoin bulls are pricing a soft landing the macro board never signed off on.

💵 Macro

Will no Fed rate cuts happen in 2026?

At 87.4%, the board heavily favors zero Fed cuts this year, up about 2 points in a month. That is a restrictive-all-year backdrop, the kind that usually leans on risk assets. Hold that number next to the Bitcoin item below, where the crash odds just fell off a cliff. One of these two moods is out over its skis.

📈 Crypto

Will Bitcoin dip to $60,000 by December 31, 2026?

The biggest mover on the board, down 45 points in a month, now prices a Bitcoin dip to $60K at just 28.5%. So the crash trade has been repriced from live possibility to long shot. The tension: this softening ran while the Fed market stayed pinned on no cuts. Crypto is pricing out downside that the same board's rate view would seem to argue for.

⚙️ Tech

Will NVIDIA be the largest company in the world by market cap on August 31?

At 96.6%, the board treats NVIDIA holding the top spot as all but certain, but the story is the speed: up 25 points in a month, the third-biggest mover on the board. A near-settled price that got there this fast is the AI trade's verdict rendered in real time, and it did so with volume running 1.8x its weekly average.

Will Anthropic's valuation hit $3.0T by December 31?

28.5%, down from 37.5% since we last looked, a 9-point slide and the fifth-biggest mover on the board. Anthropic's ceiling is being marked down. Curiously, the same 28.5% now prices Anthropic's $3T as no more likely than Bitcoin touching $60K, two very different roads to a one-in-four outcome.

🌍 Geopolitics

Will China invade Taiwan by end of 2026?

The price sits at 3.7% and hasn't budged a cent in a month. Yet $168K changed hands in 24 hours against a roughly $27K daily baseline. Size moving through a flat price is a rare pattern: whatever the volume represents, it left no mark on the odds. The number to watch is not the 3.7% but the gap between the flow and the stillness.

Iran-Oman Hormuz Agreement by August 31?

24%, with volume running 3.5x its weekly average as the deadline closes in. Here is the friction: the Israel-Iran ceasefire market sits near 98%, implying a settled regional picture. If the region is that calm, a Hormuz deal being only a one-in-four shot with days left says the two markets disagree on what "stable" actually buys you.

🎬 Culture

Will Spider-Man: Brand New Day gross at least $900M domestic by August 31?

6.4%, collapsed from 40.9% since our last look, a 34-point drop and the sixth-biggest mover on the board. A month ago this was a coin flip's neighbor; now it is a rounding error. The month between opening weekend and here did all the work.

The Fed board and the Bitcoin board are describing two different 2026. Restrictive money and no crash rarely share the same year, and only one of these prices will age well.
