Reminder! Poor Queer Studies with Matt Brim, Thurs April 14, 3pm EDT
Hi everyone, just a quick reminder about our upcoming April session! I hope you’ll join us on Thursday, April 14 at 3pm EDT to discuss Poor Queer Studies by Matt Brim. This book has changed the way I think about higher ed. I’m especially pleased that author Matt Brim will join us for our conversation.

Readings
- Poor Queer Studies chapter 4, “Poor Queer Studies Mothers“
- Poor Queer Studies introduction
- Reflection post by CUNY Graduate Center doctoral student Janan Shouhayib (from a spring 2021 course that Matt and Katina co-taught)
One thing to consider as you read these chapters is a question that Matt asked our students: whom do you teach?
This may include teaching in the classroom sense, but not only that. How does your thinking seep into conversations with your friends, your kids, your loved ones? How does it change the way you interact with the world? We are all teaching much more often than we may realize.
Really looking forward to this chance to reconnect and talk about teaching—and about gender, race, class, and more through the lens of Matt’s book. Hope to see you then.
