Summer writing w/ Inkcap; Slack invite; book announcement!
Dear friends,
Summer! For many of us, it's a time of different rhythms—longer days, more family time, a mix of laze and wanderlust. It also tends to be a moment to pick up the kinds of projects that need a little breathing room, and a chance to think through ideas for future projects and possibilities.
With that in mind, I want to invite you to stay connected with the Inkcap community in two ways that I hope will be useful in this summer period especially: a Slack workspace and a weekly co-writing group. Read on for more details.
Slack!
If you, like me, have been drifting away from wide-open social media spaces in favor of smaller, more private ones, consider joining the new Inkcap slack space! It's a welcoming place to chat about what's happening in and around higher education, share links and resources, imagine possible Inkcap projects, and maybe more. Join the Inkcap slack space here.
Weekly co-writing!
Working on a writing project this summer? You are most welcome to join Inkcap's weekly co-writing group. We gather on zoom on Fridays from 2-4pm Eastern, spend a few minutes to share what we'll be working on, then just turn off cameras and mics and get to work. It's remarkable how much that companionable silence and light accountability helps me to work through writer's block and all the other pitfalls that can so easily leave me feeling stuck. Sign up here if you'd like to come. Occasional drop-ins are welcome; you don't need to commit to being there every week.
I'll add that if you are looking for more direct support with your writing, consider hiring me as an academic editor. I've been working with clients on everything from developmental editing to final copyedits, and I love it. Email me or schedule a call if you want to know more.
And a little about my own writing
I'm also incredibly happy to share an early link to my next book, The Presence of Absence: Meditations on the Unsayable in Writing, forthcoming from punctum books in winter 2024. It has a cover! And exists on a little corner of the internet! I could not be more delighted.
I've worked on bits and pieces of this book for at least a decade, and returned to it a couple of years ago when I realized that the ideas I explore in it have been fundamental to my thinking in so many ways. I'm so, so happy to have found a home for it, and am deeply grateful to punctum books for attending to it with care and enthusiasm.
I can't wait to see all the things this community is working on.
Wishing you all a beautiful start of June,
Katina
