June Updates and Chaos
Hello friends!
I hope you've all had a wonderful spring thus far. Things around here have been delightfully chaotic, which I suppose is fitting for a newsletter called Cozy Chaos with Imogen.
A Duology Update
Book Two officially has a title if you missed it!
Whole Heart will be the sequel to Half Breed, and I'm currently about two-thirds of the way through drafting it (I think. It keeps getting longer...).
It's been one of those books where the characters keep deciding they have their own plans. Side characters have become more important than intended, scenes that were supposed to be short have somehow become entire chapters (or two or three...), and my outline is currently looking at me with varying levels of disappointment. In other words, writing is going great!
I don't want to spoil anything yet, but I can say that Whole Heart is letting me explore more of Illucidia than ever before (hello all nine territories!), and I've been having a blast diving back into the world, creating cultures and experiences all over the Illucidia map.
Book Ball Plans
I'm also excited to share that I'll be at the New England Book Ball on April 24th–25th, 2027, at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in New Hampshire as an attending author!
And because I apparently enjoy creating extra work for myself, I've decided to make my own gown. (I have a habit of collecting hobbies the way dragons collect treasure. Sewing a gown, hand beading the bodice, and 3D printing my masquerade mask are just a few...)
Will I spend an unreasonable amount of time hand-making details most people won't notice? Probably. Will it be fun? Also probably.
Life Lately
Outside of writing, life has been a balancing act of real life job, author stuff, mom life, and semi-professional cryptid status.
Some days I feel incredibly productive, and other days I spend twenty minutes looking for my phone while holding it.
One thing I've been reminded of lately is how grateful I am for this community. Every review, message, comment, and recommendation means the world to me. Writing can be a lonely journey, and it's easy to spend hours staring at a manuscript wondering if anyone will ever care about the story living in your head. Then one of you reaches out and reminds me exactly why I do this. So, thank you for that.
Thank you for spending a little time with me today!
